GED Information

A resident of the state of Texas who has not graduated from an accredited high school is eligible to take the GED or high school equivalency test per Texas Education Code, Section 7.111. Eligibility requirements for GED testing are defined in the Texas Administrative Code, Title 19, Part 2, Chapter 89, Subchapter C, Rule §89.43.

Having the GED certificate or diploma gives you the chance to develop fundamental skills and knowledge needed to to secure a better income and a brighter future for you and your family, and allows for a college or university education. The new GED allows you to take (and pay for) one test (module) when you are ready to do so, and you have two years to complete the entire battery of four tests!

On January 2, 2014, GED Testing Service unveiled a new test for all jurisdictions (except Canada and International). The new assessment continues to provide the opportunity to earn a high school credential, but it also measures career-and college-readiness skills. The new test also has four content areas—literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies—that measure a foundational core of knowledge and skills that are essential for career and college readiness.
